Mon Dieu! Someone has read all 7 volumes. And, poor me, still thinking there were only six. As to my progress.......summer trips and a day job have kept me from getting past Swann's Way, and in fact, I'm just now leaving Combray to find out about Swann in love.
As a supplement, take a look at this week's New Yorker with a piece by Alex Ross about fictional composers. He talks about Vinteuil and Swann. Allright........back to it.
One observation before I close. The Stonington enthusiast had mentioned she liked the descriptions in the first volume about the spires and steeples and, interestingly, when I returned to the first volume I had independently underlined those portions also.

My First Proust Post
Thanks, Ruth, for creating this terrific blog for us. I took advantage of all the rain we had in June and early July to read all 7 volumes so I'm done reading Proust! (Not to prejudice the rest of you but, "hooray!!"). I made marginal notes, though, and will be happy to blog alond with you as you read - there are many interesting parts that I think it would be fun to discuss.
How are the rest of you coming on this?

Welcome, Readers!
At last the blog is up and running! I have been procrastinating about beginning my reading as I wanted to be able to blog about it from the very start. No excuses now! For those of you who already have started, feel free to chime in about your experiences. Can't wait to read the posts!
